Turkey Tail Mushroom (Trametes versicolor): An Edible Macrofungi with Immense Medicinal Properties. Current Opinion in Food Science. 2024 Jul 1:101191.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Macrofungi, commonly known as mushrooms, are not only considered functional foods for supplying essential nutritional ingredients but also a good source of physiologically beneficial medicines.\u00a0<em>Trametes versicolor<\/em>, referred to as turkey tail\u2019s Mushroom or\u00a0<em>Yun Zhi in China,<\/em>\u00a0is an edible mushroom that has extensive historical usage in conventional and traditional Chinese medicine. This mushroom contains an abundance of physiologically bioactive compounds, most notably \u03b2-glucan polysaccharides, which are responsible for antioxidant, neuroprotection, hypolipidemic effects, immune-modulating effects, and anticancer effects.\u00a0<em>Trametes versicolor<\/em>\u00a0has also been revealed to have wound healing, antidiabetic, antimicrobial, antifibrotic, neurotrophic, and anti-inflammatory effects among other therapeutic efficacies.
