Through an Artist’s Lens
Our Artist in Residence:
Burak Turkmen
Bridging the gap between complex science and food sustainability through creative multimedia storytelling.
As the Food Sustainability Artist in Residence at the Nootropic Foods Laboratory, Burak translates high-level scientific research into high-impact public narratives.
His workflow bridges the physical and digital worlds: capturing the lab with mirrorless cameras, specialized lighting equipment, and precision microphones, while expanding perspectives through aerial drone videography and 360-degree immersive capture. Powered by Adobe Creative Cloud (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Blender, this framework is just the beginning-with a deep pipeline of innovative multimedia projects on the horizon.
Through the lens of an artist, his goal is to transform the complex concepts of food sustainability into a visual language that a general audience can easily understand and feel. He believes that art has a unique way of bypassing dense statistics, allowing people to see their daily food choices not just as routines, but as deeply connected threads that impact both human health and the planet. By bridging science and creative storytelling, he hopes to inspire individuals to look at their plates with a renewed sense of curiosity, appreciation, and responsibility.
